About the Presentation:
During their seasoned careers, Patti has served on non-profit Boards and Shirley has served on both for profit and non-profit Boards. They will share their experiences on how they got on the Boards they are on and lead a group discussion about Board service.

About the Presenters:
Patti Gentry, Senior Vice President and Associate Broker, Keyser

Patricia Gentry is one of the most senior and well respected medical office brokers in the Phoenix marketplace. Over the past 30 years she has represented clients in all aspects of the medical office and office market requirements. Her clients have included institutional, medical, hospital, clinical, and corporate headquarters users. She has completed over 400 transactions with a value of over $700,000,000.00 in value. With her experience Patti can engage in a most personal level with her clients, helping them to make informed decisions based on detailed and expertly managed service they receive. She has been involved with the following projects.

  • Tenant representation in the Honor Health Systems acquisition of their current
     corporate headquarter.
  • Ground up development of Phelps Dodge corporate headquarters of 410,000 square feet, secured tenants to lease the
     building to 90%, followed by the sale of the project.
  • Represented the Arizona Care Network in a 25,000-square foot 7-year lease.
  • Partner in the development of a 90,000-square foot medical condo project.
  • Represented Health Services Advisory Group in a 47,000-square foot 10-year lease.
  • Worked with Maricopa Association of Governments in their pursuit of a build tosuit project of 150,000 square feet.

After receiving her MBA at the American Graduate School of International Management she began her business career with IBM and was named to the top 5% of salespeople worldwide. From there she moved into her career in commercial real estate with CBRE.

She has served as Chairperson of the Barrow Neurological Foundation, chairperson of the St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center Community Board, Scottsdale Leadership, named a lifetime member of the Arizona State University Athletic Board after serving on its Executive Committee and currently serves on the Deans Council of the WP Carey Business School at ASU. In addition, she is affiliated with the invitation only with Women Business Leaders in the Healthcare industry, and the International Women’s Forum.

Shirley A. Weis, President, Weis Associates, LLC
Shirley A. Weis is President of Weis Associates, LLC, an international management and leadership development firm. She specializes in providing strategic advice to leaders in health care, insurance, and medical related start up companies. Prior to launching Weis Associates, Ms. Weis was Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer (the chief operational executive) for Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Her work involved coordinating overall institutional strategy and operations of Mayo Clinic’s $9 billion, 60,000 employee healthcare system that treats more than a million patients a year from around the world through its sites in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Ms. Weis has earned the reputation of a world-class leader adept in combining strategic leadership, communications and financial expertise to execute and provide oversight on enterprise-wide initiatives that enhance quality, safety and service while assuring bottom line results.

Ms. Weis is an experienced corporate board member. She currently serves on the boards of RTI Surgical, Inc., Sentry Insurance and The Medical Memory. She is the chair of the Compensation Committee for RTI Surgical and a member of the Audit Committee. At Sentry Insurance, she serves as a member of the Audit, Finance and Personnel Committees. She previously was a member of the Mayo Clinic Foundation Board of Trustees and secretary of the Mayo Clinic Board of Governors.

Ms. Weis has held a number of clinical and administrative leadership positions in her career including chair of Administrative Services for Mayo Clinic in Arizona, chair of the Mayo Clinic Managed Care Department, executive director (CEO) for Mayo Management Services, Inc., chief operating officer (COO) for Blue Care Network-Mid-Michigan and emergency services manager for a Lansing Mich., healthcare system.

A magna cum laude graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Nursing, Ms. Weis earned a Master’s in Management degree from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich. She has been named a Michigan State University Distinguished Alumna and has received the Diana Award for Outstanding Business Women. She was named one of the Top 25 Women in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine for 2007 and 2013. Ms. Weis was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science Degree from Michigan State University in 2014.

Ms. Weis has published her first book called Playing to Win in Business. It has been #1 in the Amazon Women and Business category and has received an eLit Gold Award for Business.
